Deleted allocations when project name changes

hi! 

I have an error in my base that when a project name is changed, the allocation column is deleted. I do not want this to happen, please give guidance on how to adjust automations so that project name changes will not delete allocations.

Hey @lauragallagher! Could you please share further details and/or screenshots of the automation?
The issue is most probably found on an "update record" action block of your automation, which is setting the "Allocation" field blank -as per my understanding of your set up.

Hmm, the screenshots don't provide enough detail to figure out what's happening I'm afraid

If you could also indicate which table and field the allocation column and project name column are that'd be great

 it is under 'monthly forecast allocations'. when the individual projects name changes, the 'projected allocations' and 'actual allocations' columns will delete. thanks!

Hmm, it looks like when the Project name changes, it's triggering the automation "3. Create Monthly Team Assignments" which in turn is creating new records for each month and team member for that project.  I think the records with the old Project name are then deleted by "6. Delete Inactive Monthly Forecast Allocations Records"

And so I suspect it's not that the column values are being deleted, but that the whole record is being deleted.  To test this, try opening a "Monthly Forecast Allocations" and then modifying its linked Project and see whether hte opened record gets deleted
