Updating a linked field when a record is submitted through a form

Hi!

I am working on an HR base.

I want to create updates between two tables: Interviewers & Applicants. There is a link to another record field column called ‘Interviewer’ which shows which team member will interview for a particular role.

I want to set up an automation so that each time we receive a new job application (Applicants table) for a particular role, the link to another record field Interviewer field will automatically update with the team members name who is going to interview them (which is already predetermined)?

Is this possible?

If its already predetermined, why isn’t the value in that field to begin with? In what way is it predetermined?
