Linking field - Field disappears

Hi!
I created 2 tables -

Table 1 - Input from a form I created - Including a tracking number and quantity actually received
Table 2 - Download from a website with the tracking numbers and quantity shipped

I wanted to link these two tables with the tracking number field to then be able to create an additional field that would calc how many items I had outstanding.

When I go to link the tracking numbers between the tables - The data in BOTH tables for tracking number columns totally disappear? I feel like this is pretty simple… am I missing something basic? please help!
