What is the proposed idea/solution?

Please add the ability to request a copy of your responses to the Form builder version of forms. This functionality currently exists in the Form "view" but not for forms built in the Form builder.

How does is solve the user problems?

This allows users to keep a copy for their own records of forms they have submitted. Our team uses this functionality often from the Form "view" version of Forms, but since Airtable is driving users to use the newer Form builder, it would be nice to see this functionality there as well.

How was this validated?
Who is the target audience?

Airtable builders, Airtable end users

Wow, I never even noticed that that feature was removed from the new forms. Very odd decision.!

Hopefully, Airtable will add this back into the product soon.

In the meantime, you can “sort of” replicate this feature by creating your own Airtable automation to send the user an email after form submission.

However, the gigantic problem here is that for some strange reason, Airtable doesn’t allow automations to have access to the name of the logged-in user who submitted the form!

So the ONLY way for you to create an automation is to have the user manually type in their own email address every single time that they submit the form.

And since you’re going to be forced to go through all of that hassle within Airtable, you might be much better served by using Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable.

Fillout is 100% free, and it doesn’t require any automations for the user to receive their responses as a beautifully-designed PDF file after form submission. The user can just download the PDF file upon form submission, and you even get to design the PDF file yourself!

If you want to email the user after form submission, you would still need to ask for their email address, but you can require login which would then remember their email for the future.

Fillout also offers hundreds of features that Airtable’s native forms don’t offer, including the ability to update Airtable records from a form, display Airtable lookup fields & Airtable rollup fields & Airtable attachments & formulas on forms, dynamically & conditionally filter linked record fields by any values that you would like, perform math or other live calculations on your forms, accept payments on forms, create multi-page forms with conditional paths, create new linked records on a form, display as many fields as you want to see in a linked record selection list (including attachments), connect a single form to dozens of external apps simultaneously, limit the number of linked records that can be chosen, set advanced field validations & limitations, upload an unlimited amount of attachments simultaneously, add CAPTCHAs to your form, add choice matrixes to your forms, direct integration with hundreds of apps like Calendly & Google Maps on your forms, and so much more.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld
