Group by date ignoring the time

Iโ€™m having the same problem as this post Group by date rather than datetime - #3 by Jason_Carlin

Grouping by date with time creates a new group for each time for the same day not for just the day, I tried creating a new formula column with just the date and grouping it but having it grouped by a formula removes the option to ad cell to the group and cannot paste several cells either

If you take away the time, isn't it organized by just the date?

The ability to sort via the OPs suggestion would be overly useful. Whenever I use Group, I always hit these weird and annoying limitations...
