We want to auto-populate the current date and time in a column when updating the multiple choice field in a separate column. Everything looks correct in the automation but it is still not functioning correctly.

Real-use scenario: We have an Airtable for issue tracking. When the “Status” column is marked “Completed” we want the “Completion Date” column to auto-populate the current date and time.

We ran a simple three step automation for this and it is not functioning. Anyone have an existing process we can use?

Do you mind posting a screenshot of your automation?

Hope this clarifies the issue a little more! Let me know if you need more info

Hi Jared. It looks like your update record action has only one field selected for update, “Requested Date”. Is that the right one because you mentioned “Completion Date” before?

If it is correct, you are not assigning a value to “Requested Date” as it sounds now. That’s why it’s not working. You need to add a Last Modified field to the Issues table (if you don’t already have it). Then, you assign the Last Modified field value from the record in the trigger to “Requested Date”.

Make sense?
