Keyboard Shortcut to create new record when adding to linked field

When I click the + in a linked field it opens a search for an existing record. I would like for a keyboard modifier so when I click instead it just goes to a new record. Holding down Shift or Ctrl when clicking would work wonderfully. Or being able to set a field to always create a new record.

I agree this would be very helpful. At the very least, a quick way to jump to the “Add New Record” button without having to scroll through the entire list or use the mouse would be nice. If one shortcut isn’t possible, then maybe a few quick keystrokes, i.e. make the UP arrow or SHIFT-TAB move focus to the Add New Record button when you’re already at the top of the list, then you could hit Enter and be on your way.
