Keyboard Shortcut to create new record when adding to linked field

When I click the + in a linked field it opens a search for an existing record. I would like for a keyboard modifier so when I click instead it just goes to a new record. Holding down Shift or Ctrl when clicking would work wonderfully. Or being able to set a field to always create a new record.

I agree this would be very helpful. At the very least, a quick way to jump to the โ€œAdd New Recordโ€ button without having to scroll through the entire list or use the mouse would be nice. If one shortcut isnโ€™t possible, then maybe a few quick keystrokes, i.e. make the UP arrow or SHIFT-TAB move focus to the Add New Record button when youโ€™re already at the top of the list, then you could hit Enter and be on your way.
