Yep, this is a big problem. We ran into the same thing.
Thanks so much for flagging—totally hear you on the credit costs with the document analysis workflow. This is top of mind for @Kelly_OShaughne and our Product team and they’re actively working on AI credit cost reduction for AI use in fields and automations.
One thing to note with today’s launch of the Airtable AI Assistant: all prompts entered (and actions delivered) via the Assistant cost a flat 10 credits.
More to come around the details of credit costs (and reductions)—and we’ll make sure to close this loop back here in the Community!
Thanks for the reply @kev
The most simple solution would be to give us the option of providing our own API keys. I currently use zero Airtable AI features but have dozens of script automations that send a webhook to Replit, where my AI workflows happen, then Replit sends it back to Airtable.
Has anyone heard any updates on this? I just used 1000 credits from a single attachment (even though the field estimated 4 credits would be used). Or does anyone know how to predict the number of credits are going to be used for a document?
I love the feature but am struggling with how many credits it’s using.
Hey @matthewsk,
Thanks for sharing! Because its stories like these that validate my decision to use my own API key via scripting. I hope though the credit costs will come down and be more consistent within Airtable.
Hey @matthewsk and @BuildForAT thanks for your comments here!
This week we launched Omni and Field Agents, and made some updates to credits and pricing. Check out this article to learn more about these changes - hopefully that helps!
