Hello,
I built very advanced feature on top of AirTable specialized to a Market. But I don’t understand the Piricing model.

  1. Should I own a Customer Database A, B, C and resell the usage to the COmpany A, B, C
  2. or help them to setup their own AirTable and configure it for them ?

Let say I have a Demo Database it will cost 20$/user/month to demo how cool it is to use airtable. The Free plan is so limited that you can’t make the promotion of few users.

  • Airtable should really add 1-2 collbarator into the Team plan to avoid these limitation
  • For instance 2. will require a “technical admin” (me) and will cost +240$/year for the client !

And the orther hand there is portals, at 8$/seat/month but … 8$ ONLY for comments that very very very expensive … no ?

Hey @Jean-Philippe_E,

Would you mind sharing further context?

Did you take a look at other platforms such as Softr, Noloco, Glide Apps, StackerHQ, others?
You would be able to build a user portal on top of Airtable, at a cheaper pricing.
Depending on your expected record count you could assess having just one base with a user portal on top of it, to be shared by all clients (multi tenant). I would probably try to avoid this, and have each client work on its own base.

Yes let me explain,

Let say I build a vertical for Business A in France. I mean a tailored AirTable, multiple view, automation , interfaces and connected to third party apps and database. I use Node-RED as a proxy for 3rd party access.

If company A want this tool, I assume

  • they should take an AirTable account according to their needs
  • create an admin account (for me)
  • then I “copy” / “setup” my tailored AirTable

Q1 : The cost for Company A will be 240$ x collaobrators ? It’s the right way to do ? There is no reseller mechanism ?

And if these collaborators have final clients to share some documents, etc ..

  • Option 1 is to share read only view. But it’s hard to get feedbacks
  • Option 2 is to buy pool of 8$ users that can only comment and have access to portal
    • In that case it could be less expensive to make a dedicated portal with another tool
  • Option 3 is to have real users at 20$

Q2 : The good way is Option 1 + Option 2 or dedicated Portal like you said ?

Now, let say, I want to demo my tool or any AirTable cool feature

  • Option 1 I use the Free tiers but I’ll be very limited
  • Option 2 I have to take a “demo account” 240$/year to share with a target customer ?
    • Thre is no other options ?

Q3 : I uderstand I’ll have to pay 240$ at least to demo my product to others there is no alternative ?

My Feedback, I used to work on many non-profit project where AirTable would match. And I often invite people (high profile) that do not know the power of AirTable.

  • If I invite 4 peoples to work on such project it will cost me 240$ x 4
  • If I use the Free Tiers (because it’s not strategic nor lots of data) people won’t get the value of AirTable for instance no start/end date in a calendar … start only ..

Q4 :  My point is AirTable lost the opporortunity of new clients because we can’t showcase AirTable features without paying a lot of money (often for free project). AirTable should add 1-2 “collaborator” account to the Team Tiers or be more flexible of Free feature.
