Hey Airtable Community!

We're excited to announce an upcoming change that will streamline your experience within our vibrant community. Effective June 2nd, the Airtable Community will exclusively support login via Single Sign-On (SSO). This means the option to log in with a separate username and password will no longer be available after this date.

What does this mean for you?

This transition to SSO will provide a more unified login process. We believe this change will ultimately benefit everyone in the community.

How do you swap over to SSO?

The good news is that for most of you, the switch will be completely seamless! If the email address you currently use for your Airtable Community profile matches the email address associated with the SSO login you use to access Airtable, you won't need to do anything special. Simply log in via the SSO option, and you'll be automatically connected to your existing community profile.

What if I'm not currently using SSO for my Airtable account?

No worries! Even if you're currently using default authentication (username and password) for your Airtable account, you can easily link it to an SSO login. The process is the same: just log in to the Airtable Community using the SSO option that corresponds to your email address. As long as your email addresses match, your existing community profile will be automatically linked. We encourage you to make this switch before June 2nd to ensure a smooth transition.

What happens if I don't make the change before SSO becomes mandatory on June 2nd?

Don't fret! Once we transition to SSO-only login on June 2nd, any users who haven't previously logged in via SSO will still be able to access their community profile. As long as the email address associated with their community account matches an SSO-enabled account, they can simply log in using the SSO option, and their profile will be there.

Will I need to log in just to view content?

Not at all! You will still be able to visit and view content within the Airtable Community without logging in. However, we highly encourage you to log in using SSO so you can actively participate in discussions, ask questions, share your expertise, and connect with fellow Airtable users!

We're confident that this move to SSO will create a more user-friendly experience for everyone in the Airtable Community. We appreciate your understanding as we implement this important update on June 2nd.

This is great news, @MaddieJ! It sounds like this change will help to reduce the spam in the community?

@ScottWorld exactly, hopefully this will be better for everyone!

Can you clarify what is meant by “Airtable Community” ? Does the SSO requirement include access to our workspaces and bases? I just tried to log into airtable using SSO and it gave me the following error. Please advise

Will SSO be required/available on all plans or only from Business and up? (It’s not listed as a feature on the Team plan). Just wondering if Team plan users can start to transition now. Thank you

Hi @MaddieJ,

Can this forum’s SSO timeout be fixed so that we don’t have to keep hitting the SSO Login button every time we come back to the community? This problem primarily happens on iPad and iPhone. Every time I log into the community on iPad or iPhone, and then I come back to the community an hour or two later, I have to click the SSO Login button again — even though I’ve never signed out.

Thank you!
Scott

This is great news!!! Thanks for sharing @MaddieJ

Hey @ChristyNavarro so sorry for the delay here! If you have any issues with your Airtable workspaces/bases, that is separate from this Community requirement for SSO. Please connect with our Support team if this issue persists.

@SonPop great question! The SSO required for the Community will just mean that you need to use your Airtable credentials (regardless of plan) to access the Community moving forward. The SAML-based SSO feature for Business and Enterprise Airtable Plans refers to the ability to login to Airtable itself using your organization’s SSO - for example, “Log in with Google”. If you run into any issues once the Community changes to SSO-only today, please reach out to our Support Team.

@ScottWorld I’ll look into the login time on iPad/iPhone!

Thanks, @MaddieJ! Also, is there any way to do anything about the problems with the ”related topics” sidebar and the “search results” page? Both the “related topics” sidebar and the “search results” page always show the VERY OLDEST POSTS (3 years ago, 4 years ago, 5 years ago, 6 years ago) which are no longer relevant to today’s modern Airtable. They should ideally show the NEWEST and most relevant posts that are using today’s modern version of Airtable.

Thank you!
Scott

Also, @MaddieJ, we’re still getting spam in the community. For example, this post and this post just popped up right now. Can somebody monitor our user reports more frequently? I know that several of us have been reporting spam, but even weeks later, the reported spam will often still remain in the community.

Thank you!
Scott
