Question

Is this type of form/integration doable?

Hello everyone, I have a pretty specific question form a form I want to have connected to my site.

So I want to have a contact form on my website that is kindoff a two step process. First step is the user inputs their name, number and address of the property. Once the user inputs this info and clicks get a quote, it will take them to the second part of the form where they input just a couple more details.

Ideally what I want to happen is this:

If the user completes the first step but upon moving to the second step decides not to complete it because of time it would take to fill out, I still would like the info that he submitted in the first step to be submitted to airtable. Is it possible to do this?

Hey @senecaland!

Yes. This is absolutely doable. However, given Airtable forms limitations I would highly recommend you take a look at Fillout. Their free plan is super generous, and they have direct integration with Airtable.

Assuming your base has a Contacts table and a Quotes table, you can create a form for Quotes and have a linked field to contacts at the start.

By the time they full out the contact information, the Contact record will be created in Airtable

Alternstively you can have múltiple forms through which you pass over url parameters.

Might sound confusing, but it is not! Feel free to schedule a call of you’d like me to show you around.

As Mike said above, this is only possible with Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable, and you can only get that behavior with records that are created/edited via linked record fields.

So if you need records from 2 different tables sent to Airtable before the form is submitted, then you should create a 3rd table which acts as the form’s table in Fillout, and create linked record fields from that 3rd table to the first 2 tables.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire the best Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld
