I am struggling to find a good way to handle this de-dupe problem at the moment. Is there a fast and easy way to identify duplicate records (e.g. "Company Name") and merge them together so that two values are maintained (e.g. "Contact name").

+31If you convert your "Contact Name" field to a "Link to another record" and create a new table, that should do what you need I think
