Question

Displaying previous interaction history when creating a new interaction

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to optimize my prospect tracking in Airtable and need your help to solve an interface issue.

My current structure

  • A Prospects table containing all my prospect information, including a "Commentaire de Suivi" (Follow-up Comments) field that rolls up notes taken during previous interactions.
  • An Interactions table linked to prospects via a "Prospect" field (linked record).

My need

When I create a new interaction via Interface Designer, I want to be able to see the summary of previous interactions (the "Commentaire de Suivi" field from the Prospects table) while I'm entering my new interaction (so as to have the previous follow-up notes of my prospect meanwhile I take the notes of the current call for ex.).

The problem

I can't configure my interface to display both:

  1. Input fields for my new interaction (Interactions table)
  2. History of previous interactions (rollup field from the Prospects table)

I'm using the free version of Airtable and the Interface Designer. I either end up being able to enter a new interaction without seeing the history, or seeing the history without being able to easily create a new interaction.

What I've already tried

I've attempted to create different views and panels in my interface, but I can't get information from my two tables to coexist in the context of creating a new interaction.

Do you have any suggestions for achieving this with the free version? Are there interface tricks that I haven't explored?

Thank you in advance for your help!

PS : Here’s a screenshot of my interface :

Able you able to share some screenshots?

Have you tried using the lookup field instead of the rollup field as Show as ‘View’?

Example:

First off : thank you Khanhnguyen for your quick reply.

Just edited my message, forgot to attach it.

I don’t have a lookup field in the table interaction, and all the fields shown in my interface come from that table.

This interface would allow me to neatly register a new record, AND I would like to add information coming from the table “prospect” where one of the fields has gathered ALL the previous interactions with the specific prospect I’m recording new notes for.

Whiever Rollup or Lookup, it looks the same on my page :

So it’s trimmed and doesn’t allow me to have a neat view like the one bellow :

And I don’t have the options you show in the Appearance options.

I see that you're using a form page, which doesn't support dynamic fields.

Instead, I recommend adding the List or Grid element to display past interactions from your Prospects page. This way, you can see all linked interactions for each contact and add new ones directly from there, with the contact automatically linked.

You can also add a lookup field in your interactions table to lookup your rollup (Table). Then use a list page, instead of a form page for Interactions (Airtable Interface).

You can then reference the lookup field in the record view. Something like this:

I’m sorry but after trying a few things, still have no clue where to go there.

Are you working in “Interface Design” ?

Yep, all in the Interface Design. Feel free to shoot me a private message and we can jump on a call.
