Question

In the Interface interface, is it possible to grant editing permission, but not be able to add tags to a single/multiple selection field?

The client has access permission, so that he can enter and edit data, but he constantly accidentally adds values to the field settings, every time he types a value that does not exist in the list that is set for selection, it automatically adds a new value.
Something I do not want to happen

You would need to downgrade that user’s privileges from a “creator” to an “editor”.

Hmm, it sounds like they have Creator access to the base itself?  If so, you’d need to remove them from the base and then re-add them as an Interface only user I think;  seems like Interface only users have a max permission level of ‘Editor’, and so they won’t be able to create new options

It’d be nice if we could toggle whether users could add new options via the List / Grid view the same way we get to toggle whether users can add new options in the sidesheet

Hey @ek0583232948!

If this is happening through a Detailed View page for the record on an interface, then you will want to toggle off the “Allow users to add new options” shown by @TheTimeSavingCo above.

If this is happening via a list/grid view on the interface, you might want to  (i) hide the single select field from the view, or (ii) toggle off the option to edit records inline. Furthermore, you’ll want to toggle on the option to allow users to open record details. Within the record details expanded page you’ll want to have the single select field with the “Allow users to add new options” toggled off.

Also, as side comment: Via forms there is no way to create new options for a single select field, so this is also an option you might want to explore.

If you need any help, or would love to go through it together, I’d be happy to hop on a brief call.
