I have a somewhat unique scenario I need help with.  We are using Airtable as management software for a load securement operation we run. We secure loads for a customer at their location. The customer themselves has an older system they use and they don't allow us to directly integrate with their system to get the load information we need. So what we have is a Selenium process that will go to their site every 15 minutes , so we have as close to real-time updates as possible and pull a certain amount of days in the past and future and then export the load information to a CSV file. This then gets dropped on a server where we feed the information from the CSV file to airtable over API to a table. That information then goes from that table to another final one. We did this because, at certain times, users need to manually put a load into Airtable and because of the way we have to get the information into the system, we can't have the setting that would have Airtable delete the record if it doesn't see it in the source API because that would mean records would get deleted constantly if they aged out what the selenium could pull, and we need the records for historical and billing.

What I am trying to do is delete about 1500 records we don't need but can't because of the sync settings. They aren't hurting anything, but if they are needed, I don't want them to count against our overall record count. Is there any way I can delete the records I am missing?

Unfortunately, for some odd reason, Airtable does not allow you to delete records that came in via a CSV sync.

Therefore, your best bet would be to create your own automated import/sync process between CSV files and Airtable, so you can delete imported records whenever you want.

Your best way of doing this would be to use Make’s CSV integrations along with Make’s Airtable integrations.

I give step-by-step instructions on how to do this on this Airtable podcast episode.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld
