Adding a new option to multiple select field through a form

Forum|alt.badge.img+3

Hello! On the grid view, users are normally able to add new options to a multiple select field. However, when I try to do this on a form, I can only select from existing options. Is there any way to get around this?

Your #1 best bet for doing this is to use Fillout's advanced forms for Airtable.

Fillout is 100% free and I love using Fillout for this, because it’s the easiest & quickest & most bulletproof way of doing this.

Fillout also offers hundreds of advanced features for Airtable forms that go above & beyond what you are looking for (i.e. the ability to add new options to a multiple select field). For example, Fillout even lets you update existing Airtable records from a form.

However, if you want to try to do this natively in Airtable, check out the instructions that I gave in this thread.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld

I personally do Scott's option 2. The only difference is that I manually look over the added options and add them to the list myself.

I found that having users add to this list can lead to messy data. But if your use case is more manageable then for sure automation makes it easier!

Hi there,

Hannes from the miniExtensions team here! I just wanted to add that our form offers this functionality as well, without any need for automations or separate fields. You can try this out with a free account now🙂
