Restricting ability to edit field descriptions in Interfaces

Hello, I’m designing an interface for my organization where I want people to be able to edit the field values in a grid. However, it appears that people accessing the interface will also have the ability to edit the field descriptions. Is there a way to lock the field descriptions but still allow edit access to the field values? If this is not currently possible, could this be a feature in the future?
