Is it possible to conditionally shade fields themselves instead of a color line on the left side of the entry? Those are NOT catching my eye at all, and I need them to!

You currently cannot change the color of a particular cell.
A common workaround is to use a formula field that will display an eye-catching emoji, and place that formula field right next to the field in question.
If this answers your question, please mark this post as the solution. Otherwise, could you please give a bit more details and a screen capture? If you show the current record coloring conditions, we can help translate that into a formula.
