I must be missing something but can't find a way to change this.

I have a standard lookup field with a capability to link to new records. When I'm adding a new  record via new record creation form I can only see the IDs of each field:

However for the exactly same field, when I edit existing record and click that same field I get this. How do I get similar view when adding a new record so that I can see additional details for each item.

Unfortunately, Airtable is a platform of limitations, so you only have 2 options for solving this problem:

#1. You would need to use a formula field as your primary field (in your linked record’s table), and you would need to include every field that you think the user would need to see. However, there is another problem here, which is that Airtable will cut off the text after the width of the drop-down menu is exceeded.

#2. Use Fillout, which is the only form app for Airtable that lets you specify the fields that you want to see for your linked record selections. And it won’t cut off your text either.

Thanks. I guess I'll be adding quite a few new formula fields in the near future (:

I was hoping I missed something since this should be quite basic feature but I guess not.. Hope they fix it some day...

Unfortunately, we’ve been waiting for them to add this for 10 years, but nothing yet. Airtable is a very customer-hostile company. I’ve never seen them add any of the feature requests that customers have been begging for for years.
