New to Airtable and looking for help setting up asset tracking!


Hi there!

I’m looking for help in setting up a system in Airtable by which I can track assets for my VERY small business as a personal chef. My db skills are rusty at best, but I can learn!

Scenario:
Personal chef service uses reusable/returnable containers for packaging meals. With each delivery, I drop off the current meals and pick up the containers from the previous delivery. Containers get lost in the aether and I end up with many missing and having to purchase more (which eats into my slim profits!)

What I’d like to do:
Assign unique barcode to each client and each container.
Assign containers to a specific client via barcode scanning (scan the customer barcode; scan the container)
Scan container barcodes upon their return to see which containers are still checked-out and to whom.

Container records can contain the following fields:
Container type, size, manufacturer, supplier, purchase date, purchase price, replacement price, assigned client, condition
