Multiple Page Document in Page Designer

I do the same for creating rental contracts for my photo studio. The best solution I could come up with is to have all of the dynamic info that’s pulled from Airtable (client name, booking time/date, fees, etc.) displayed on a single page designed in page designer.

I then export that as a PDF and manually combine it with another 4 page PDF of boilerplate contract details that never changes from booking to booking. I end up with a 5 page document (Airtable page is #1) that I then email to clients.

Kind of a pain in the ass, but until there’s a way to create multipage documents in Airtable (or someone enlightens me to a better solution), I think that’s the best way to go.

Not ideal, but workable. I would definitely like to see this support developed in the future, however. As well as support for other editing capabilities (e.g., basic text formatting, box borders, lines, etc.)

I have this same issue. I would like to use page designer to create projects by college view for reporting purposes. Some colleges have more projects going than can be displayed on a single page. I was hoping this would be a quicker way to make a nice human-readable summary for administration.

Instead, I will have to do an export and use page merge capabilities of Word or perhaps code something up on a web page using the API.

I’m using this for my expense tracking and it would be great to be able to print the expense form and then on a second page print the receipt, but since I can’t do that I’m printing the form, and then printing the receipt separate even though I’m also additionally adding the image or pdf of the receipt as an attachment.

I also hoped to use this for event planning - we have an annual event with booths, and we send out a booth assignment and confirmation. It’s always been a 2-pager and I’m really not sure how to do this with one, so I guess I’ll be experimenting when that event rolls around again next year.

i found a solution (sort of) for a problem i was having with blocks - in page designer, i couldn’t define one page designer block to have more than one page so that i could print a multipage record. it’s actually pretty straightforward and i feel very dumb. i just set the record size page to “custom” and double/triple/etc the height (1274 px x2 or x3 or more, according to how many pages i want). then i just have to define larger margins in my printer so that it won’t cut out text.

Thanks for the work around, but chiming to support the request for feature development to allow multiple page formatting in page designer block - the workaround is hard to format for printing anything official - how do calculate margins and create headers etc?

Without this function, Page Designer is actually useless for inventory purposes. Please develop…

I just started using Blocks, more specifically the Page Designer.

I created a document using info from my table which is only about 5 lines long. I would like to print multiple records underneath each other on one page instead of each record per page and then leaving more than half a page empty.

I figured I could to it in the print settings, where I selected In a List from the record layout. However, when I do that I still only get one record per page.

How can I print multiple records on one page?

Make sure you don’t have any empty text blocks or data fields elsewhere on the page that makes your Block take up more than 1/2 of your configured page size. (It’s easy to create a text block, intentionally or not, and mistakenly leave it sitting empty. You may need to select blank areas of your page to see if a text block or field unexpectedly appears.) Your data fields, as well, should be configured to be no larger than your largest anticipated text output; it’s also easy to configure a field definition to be larger than needs be, with a few lines of text at the top and dead space below.

Those are the simple reasons this might not be working for you — and I can’t help with the complex ones, because your approach has always worked for me. In either list or grid print mode I get multiple records on one page…

Really need Page Designer to be able to continue on multiple pages. We want to provide a transaction list and it’s longer than a page. Need to be able to position the continuing data on the next page. Just making the page longer isn’t a viable solution.

Any news about this topic ?

Multipage function could be a game-changer

Just thought I would throw this workaround out there… Have you ever tried WebMerge? It allows you to upload a fillable PDF, then using Zapier you can choose which Airtable fields should be fed into which fields on the PDF. You can then email that pdf in another step to the zap, or even attach it to your record.

Downfalls:

• Depending on the range of info from record to record, it might not work for you to always use the same static PDF. I do love the way Page Designer can dynamically resize the grids for linked records, and a PDF doesn’t have that functionality (at least not that I can wrap my head around… )


• WebMerge costs are a bit discouraging. However they do allow 5 merges per month with a free trial, and all the test versions you do are free as well
  

All of that being said, if Page Designer could allow for multiple pages that would be wonderful. I also would love to see integrations worked in for Blocks - it would be great to automate the process of saving a pdf of the page designer record and attaching to a record or emailing it.

Related - is there a way to set fields so that they can scale in size? I have a display of teams that should scale up or down depending on the size of the team. Right now there’s either too much blank space, it fits correctly, or the records are cut off because there are more than the allotted space. If I set size based on largest record, then I would definitely end up with too much blank space on all other teams.

I looked at WebMerge but is too expensive for me.

I only think that if Page Designer evolved for allowing multiple pages and saving the page as pdf, the difference would be substantial.

I agree this is essential. A more fully-featured page designer block would:

1. Allow headers and page numbers per record


2. Allow multiple pages per record


3. Allow fields to resize and flow per field length at runtime.

Yes!

Regarding #3, “allow fields to resize”, we need the sections to grow and shrink with the number and size of our lists. Sub-totals would also be very nice.

We want to be able to do our invoices and proposals through the Report Block, but the length of our documents varies a lot.

Just having multi-page or a “continuous” option with a .docx download would solve most of our problems - we can edit out the white space if we must.

So discouraging to work all the way through setting up related tables only to run right in to this silly page length problem in Page Designer.

I have really enjoyed learning AirTable and think it is going to be great for us but the page length problem pretty much messes it up – our whole purpose was creating an invoicing application but we have too many line items per customer to fit on one page.
