Page Designer - save as pdf in attachment field

Hi - I’m a lender and would like to use page designer to generate monthly statements for my borrowers. Ideally these are easily converted to pdf and saved in an attachment field for each record in a view. Right now there is no easy way to do this except for printing each separately and adding manually, or printing all records, splitting, and then uploading.

We could save to an attachment field using a template and Formstack integration, but there are a couple limitations. No table view for linked fields and Formstack pricing is based on the number or merges, which would start to add up quickly.

To share the statements with our borrowers, we’ll use Stacker so they can login to their portal and access the statements.

Yes, this is a top feature request and it is much needed. Please send your request to support@airtable.com, because they rarely read the posts here.

Our company could definitely use this functionality. It seems odd that this still has not been implemented. Why create a viewable report that cannot be saved and distributed throught the automations?

You can manually do it with Page Designer, but it can’t be automated. For automated PDF generation, you can look into 3rd-party apps like DocuMint or On2Air: Actions.

Hi there,

In addition to Scott’s suggestion I would also recommend Plumsail Documents. This tool solved all the problems we encountered with Page Designer. Here is an article describing all the key differences:

Airtable Page Designer Alternative

We found the following article helpful when we were just starting out:

How to auto generate contracts from Airtable data in Zapier — Plumsail Documents

Please note that the solution is paid, with a free one-month trial.

You can try the extension Plumsail Documents for Airtable. With it, you can send your data from Airtable to any of the customized templates, creating documents in any PDF, docx, etc. format. You can also choose the delivery method for a document created from Airtable records, from saving it to Google Drive or SharePoint, sending it by email, or for signature. There is a 30-day free trial for the test.
