Search through Entire Base

Currently, there is a way to search within a table, but no way to search through an entire base.

I second this, assuming it hasn’t already been dealt with!

Would love this feature as our CRM base is extensive and searchability is key.

Shocked i can NOT search an entire base- whats up with that? Its a database. I can’t believe users have to go to each view and search it for finding something in a base. Seems odd this isn’t implemented, but I’m not on the dev team ; )

Just asking to prioritize this.
Thanks,
Paul Clark

Hellloooooo - please implement this!

Dear Airtable Team, it would be very much useful to be able to search in the entire database instead of looking at each base. Thank you very much !

Hi,
This feature has already been implemented in the new Search Block :

Like all other Airtable Blocks, it is only available with a Pro plan.
I hope this helps :slightly_smiling_face:

It is important to have between different soles, already in the same base. This feature should be added

Utterly flabbergasted that we are approaching 7 years since inception and yet a simple search facility has still not been implemented when every other provider does.

It makes it incredibility difficult to bring on any of our sizeable client base when this is the first thing they ask for. It is such a simple snippet of code, it almost suggests that Airtable are not-for-profit!

Please can be have an update on where/when this will be on the roadmap as none of our clients want to use Blocks or any other workaround.

Respectfully.

What specific type of search are you seeking? I can search through a table with the Find in View feature (Command/CTRL + F in the desktop or web apps, or the magnifying glass icon in the upper-right corner of any table), and it’s pretty snappy. Or are you seeking something else, perhaps a search that covers a whole database and not just the active table/view?

You can search also with the Filters. I have several Tables that have a “Search” View where I do searches (create filters) to get only the desired Records. I do this when I don’t want other records on screen as in the Search feature mentioned by @Justin_Barrett.

Apologies for our lack of clarity.

What we all desperately need is a search facility that searches ones entire air table setup covering all tables in all bases. Even if it was just searching one filled type or one header it would allow us to find the data we need. Enter string into search box = all applicable records returned.

Although they are a different architecture, if you’ve ever used Excel, Access, Evernote, Google Keep, etc. they all have the option to search everywhere.

Hope that makes sense

Hello @Gitanjali_Stevens and welcome to the community!

Yes, I think it’s safe to say that comprehensive search and findability in Airtable is a key requirement and especially if any user (or team) has fully adopted Airtable and rely on it. I would suggest this has reached a point where multiple organizations are likely requesting global search because it is typically a key enterprise requirement.

Unfortunately, suggestions for more convenient findability going back 5 years has apparently not nudged this request enough to gain traction. But we must also realize that there are many [seemingly] simple requests that are equally dated.

Global search may seem like a simple challenge but, in a climate of complex sharing capabilities, this is hardly the case. Imagine a search engine that does not allow users to access records where “layoff” is mentioned. Just the hint that a topic like this may be detected and however inaccessible it may be in search results would be considered a serious security breach.

Global search is indeed, very complicated. But at the same time, information findability in almost every database is considered to be one of the most important features.

Looks like this hasn't been resolved yet - I second the need.
