Introducing Google Drive and OneDrive connectors for Field Agents
Today we’re excited to announce the launch of Google Drive + OneDrive connectors in field agents—a powerful new way to connect your files directly to your Airtable workflows. You can now direct field agents to search, reference, and summarize content from your Google Drive and OneDrive documents.
Key use cases:
Get up to speed with context: Instantly search for background information and insights from your Drive or OneDrive to ramp up on new projects—no more digging through folders or old documents.
Summarize comment threads: Quickly generate overviews of conversations on a document, such as a product requirements doc, so you can drive alignment.
Search knowledge bases to answer questions: Surface answers from documentation or support articles stored in your cloud drives to resolve questions faster and keep your team moving.
Refer to specific documents from your prompt: Directly point your field agents at collaborative docs like brand guidelines, campaign briefs, or strategic plans, ensuring everyone has the most up-to-date context at their fingertips.
How to get started:
Create a new field agent by creating a new column and choosing a field agent type. Turn on one or both of the Google Drive and One Drive tools, and write in your prompt how you want the field agent to use the cloud drive.
This integration is now available to all users. We can’t wait to see how you use it to power up your workflows!

Hey @chelseytanaka,
This is interesting. Could we get a summary of a very specific uploaded file? If so, should we pass the url? Should we pass the ID?
Providing the GDrive URL works really well; document ID may work in addition, but I haven’t tried that yet. In the example below, I wrote a simple prompt and then referenced a field with the link in it.

Oh I see that now @chelseytanaka! I did not get to see it on your video. Thanks!! This is great.
Any plans for SharePoint libraries? Or if I create “add a doc library to my Onderive”, does that make it accessible?
Is searching the web necessary to be toggled on? I tried it with a simple xlsx file with the link field added but the agent is taking forever and then returning no data

Getting it was able to generate a full record for the file from the initial Google Drive integration. The error Im getting each time: Something went wrong: Failed to read file from Google Drive
Summary: My Field Agents can’t access Google Drive folder and files despite full permissions
Hey everyone,
I’m having ongoing trouble getting Field Agent to access files stored in Google Drive.
Here’s my setup:
I’m on the Free plan.
I’ve connected my Google Drive account successfully via the Field Agent’s settings.
My folder (TTB Knowledge Base) is set to “Anyone with the link – Viewer.”
All files inside are plain .txt files (previously .md, converted to text to simplify access).
I’ve tested in incognito mode and can access everything publicly, so permissions are correct.
Then I got creative and instead of just relying on the “toggle on” integration, I’d add a column that just had the “Anyone can view” link (see image) and then referenced that as a field inside of the custom prompt.
I then set-up a test column and prompt designed to confirm if the Field Agent can access the folder and reference a specific file.
But I continue getting errors like:
“I couldn’t find a markdown file named ‘BuildersClub_2025-08-06’ in your Google Drive. It appears that I do not have access to the contents of the folder you provided, even with ‘Viewer’ access set for anyone with the link.”
or
“I can’t directly access Google Drive folders or files through links provided. My capability is limited to searching and reading files within your Google Drive if you request specific documents or content by name or ID.”
I’ve also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the integration, verifying ownership (same Google account), and simplifying folder names. Still no luck.
Has anyone successfully used Field Agents to read or access Google Drive files directly?
If so, how did you structure your Drive or prompts to make it work and/or what file formats did you use?
Do I need to convert all my files to PDF or Google Doc format?
Screenshots attached for context — would appreciate any insights or examples!
