Hey Airtable community! 👋

We've been getting questions about AI credits and what they actually mean for your day-to-day workflows. I wanted to share some concrete examples of how credits are consumed so you can better understand the value included in your plan—and make the most of this powerful functionality.

Quick Context

Every Airtable plan includes AI credits that reset monthly, pooled across your organization:

  • Team: 15,000 AI credits per user per month
  • Business: 20,000 AI credits per user per month
  • Enterprise Scale: 25,000 AI credits per user per month

These credits power various AI features across the platform, from Omni to document analysis and image generation. The great news? Most common actions use very few credits, meaning you can accomplish a lot with what's included.

Real Usage Examples

Here's a breakdown of common AI actions and their credit costs:

🚀 Omni - Building & Modifying Apps: 0 credits Yes, you read that right! Creating new apps or modifying existing ones with Omni doesn't consume any credits. Build away!

💬 Omni - Q&A: 10 credits (fixed) Ask questions like "Which customers are in SF?" or "Which customer calls has AI analysis come up on?" Each question uses exactly 10 credits regardless of complexity.

📝 Omni - Creating Records: 10 credits (fixed) Upload a marketing strategy PDF and ask Omni to create 50 campaign ideas in your table—still just 10 credits total.

🏷️ Feedback Categorization: ~1 credit per item Categorizing customer feedback is incredibly efficient at typically 1 credit per piece of feedback analyzed.

🔍 Web Search: ~10 credits Need to find and summarize recent news about a company or industry trend? Each web search uses around 10 credits.

📄 Document Analysis: ~200 credits Extract key information from a 10-page contract, like exclusivity rights or payment terms. Credit usage scales with document complexity.

🎨 Image Generation: ~500 credits Generate 5 medium-quality variations of a campaign concept. Higher quality or more variations will use more credits.

What This Means for You

To put this in perspective, even on the Team plan (15,000 credits/month), you could:

  • Ask Omni 1,500 questions
  • OR categorize 15,000 pieces of feedback
  • OR analyze 75 complex documents
  • OR generate 30 sets of campaign images

And that's if you only did one type of action! In reality, you'll mix these activities, and most teams find their included credits more than sufficient for regular use.

Pro Tips:

  1. Check out the AI Playbook for inspiration on use cases to try
  2. Start with lower credit actions to test workflows before scaling up
  3. Batch similar tasks together for efficiency
  4. Use Omni's app building (0 credits!) to create AI-powered workflows that minimize ongoing credit usage
  5. Monitor your credit usage in your account settings to understand your team's patterns

I'd love to hear how you're using AI credits in your workflows! What creative use cases have you discovered? Drop your experiences below—let's learn from each other. 🙌

Happy building! The Airtable Team

Thanks, @NateF! This is very helpful! 😊🙌

Thank yo @NateF , I needed this to help answer a clients question, much appreciated!

So just to be painfully clear…

In your Quick Context section, you specifically say “xx,xxx AI credits per user/per month” based on what plan the organization is on but then don’t mention usage within the same context further down the announcement.

In the “What this means for you” section, the assumption would be that the example organization you’re citing only has a single person within it, right?

If my workspace has 50 users on the business plan, that means each user is getting 20,000 AI credits per month, pooled up across the whole organization. So, in my example I have exactly 1 million credits per month?  If this is true, that’s fantastic, but as an autistic person who has the tendency to read too far in between the lines, my radar was going off when I read this as it didn’t seem 100% clear.

Thanks for your patience & understanding!

Hey @CaseyNeemann - apologies for lag on the response. That’s correct, the credits are pooled for shared use across the org. So with 50 users on the business plan you have a million credits per month!

Hello, thanks for the info. I do have a question though. Do the AI credits reset on the 1st of every month, like automations? @NateF , thanks.
