When creating a PRD or similar and I want to copy a User into the file so they are aware of the update I have always used the @ sign and selected the email from the dropdown list. When I then come out of this the email has automatically been sent. Do I also need to set up an automation? I have not done this previously as it is not always to the same person / group.

Hmm, when you @ someone they should get an email about it. From the docs:
When a collaborator or automation adds you to a user field type with the option to "Notify users when they’re added" turned on before adding new collaborators to records.
Is this happening for everyone you’re @ing? Any chance they may have turned off notifications / have them caught in a spam filter?
