I saw this video on using air table for schools, and tried to copy the design she talked through at the end - but since it was all in groups and I am pretty new to air table, I couldn't get the automations to work, or see how the grade and assignment tables were actually set up.

Does anyone have a base design for recording assignments and grades for students - something where once the assignment is created student record lines are automatically created for the students in that assignment's class  in the grades table for scoring data to just be added?

This is the podcast I watched and really failed to imitate - https://www.youtube.com/live/Z3vdf9INifY from 46 minutes onwards.

Hmm, does this look right?

If so, try setting up your automation like this:

Link to base

Kind of, but somehow I think I've messed this up too.

I tested out the automation, just by creating a quiz in assignments. I checked the check box and then activated the automation - but I only got this.

Do I need to list the assignment in the student table grades field too for this to work?

I feel I am missing something so simple. This is what the original looked like in the podcast- though I don't need it to be quite this detailed.

re: Do I need to list the assignment in the student table grades field too for this to work?

Nope, once you hit the checkbox it'll create one record in the "Grades" table per student found in the "Student" table, linked to the Student and the Assignment

I just tested my base again with a new assignment and it created 3 new Grade records as expected.  If this is what you want to happen and you need help troubleshooting your setup could you provide a read-only invite link with some example data to your base so I can set it up for you real quick?

Apologies for the delay, end of term and things kept happening. read only link is below:

Thanks for the link!  Hmm, I duplicated your base and ran the automation and it created one record per Student:

Resulting in this in the "Grades" table:

Not sure why it wouldn't work for you, sorry!  I'd recommend just turning the automaton on and off again, and then testing the trigger again

Back from school holidays and still no luck. Just trying to populate Grades, but I have my table that I was working on below. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.
