I came back to my bases tonight to find the header colors all muted pastels. Some of us rely on the color to differentiate bases. Also, the contrast is much lower on the tables and the text on them… less accessible and more difficult to read. On interfaces, it’s still the same vibrant color… can we not retain that color in the Data view? Am I missing some setting that got changed? Also, the info in the far left (icon, help, notifications) is taking up more horizontal screen real estate.

Maybe I’m the only one, but having huge changes for no benefit seems to be a bad idea for productivity. End of rant. For now. 😁

Totally agree! Why would they make this change and not allow the user control to adjust? Definite setback

Hey @Erica_Gamet you will probably want to submit this form, and suggest this as “product idea/feature request” -I know that sounds odd.

Also there are other recent posts on similar topic in case you want to pass by and share your thoughts there as well.

it is SOOOO bad. I got the update today and im pissed. the bases are harder to view. Visually it helped having the color along the top.

Now it’s:

  • White Top border (data, interfaces, automations)
  • pastel coloring of your tabs
  • white - for the 2nd menu that contains filters grouping
  • and then your data in white cells.

It’s visually horrible. I can’t imagine more then 80% of airtable users actually liking this change. Who in the company actually thought this was a good idea? There’s no way every design engineer actually thought this was a good idea. I’m now considering changing products.

In addition to filling out the form above that @Mike_AutomaticN linked to, be sure to send an email to support@airtable.com with your complaints about this.

I'm probably in the minority that I think getting rid of the heavy color header is better. I always found that a lot of the tables and tabs (the things that I actually need to focus on) felt like they were not as prominent. I think for a lot of new users, it took your eye away from the actual functional parts of things and towards the header.

The very real complaint, I believe is that like many other people here, I had the color system as integral for how I differentiated client products and projects, and so that I don't accidentally edit the wrong base when I'm using copies of bases.  I don't think it's accurate to say this is a step back in UI. I think it's more just not knowing that the change is going to happen and having time to adjust our workflows.

This is absolutely horrible

I very much dislike the new update, much harder to navigate visually as everything  looks to similar.

Unpopular opinion: I think I am starting to like it a lot. Design looks better (regardless of the colors). Small changes to the design of the tables, curves, etc I believe…

For sure it was shocking at first. But once you get a hold of where to find everything, the design itself looks really good. I might change my mind, but I’m starting to like it!
