I know that many educational institutions use OneRoster to API with our other services.  I was curious if anyone has had any luck with building an API between OneRoster and AirTable?  We have really been growing our use of AirTable, and we are reaching a point where we will need to build in some automation.

Hey @mrhamy,

I did not use OneRoster before. Having said that, do you have any specific need/question? I’d be happy to take a look at their API documentation and help you out.

Hm, some googling says OneRoster’s an API standard and not a specific service or app or something?

If so, then I think you may want to find out if the service you’re using integrates with Make.com or some other third party automation tool, that way you can grab / push data between the services without coding it yourself

If they don’t integrate with anyone, then I’d suggest either using Make.com to plug them together or hiring a developer to write some code to help you with that instead.  Which option’s better will really depend on the service itself I’m afraid

@mrhamy

When connecting to a REST API like OpenRoster, these are your 3 best options:

  1. Write your own custom Javascripts.
  2. Use Data Fetcher
  3. Use Make’s HTTP modules.

I would highly recommend using Make, because it is a very powerful automation & integration platform that doesn’t require too much knowledge of programming code.

You’ll need to know some programming code to make your REST API calls to OpenRoster, but that’s about it.

Hope this helps!
