automation maximum hit!

Hi all, it finally happened… I have reached the maximum number of automations (50) in a base.  I know there are workarounds such as syncing a table to another base and getting another 50, however this just seems crazy.

A maximum of 50 automations on an enterprise scale plan is insufficient.  Has anyone managed to get AT to increase it?

I was at the Airtable London event today and a chap on stage mentioned he had 61 automations - so it must be possible, or is this just for enterprise accounts Airtable actually care about?

thanks

Yeah, you can email support and they can increase it for you. Or at least it has worked for us, not sure if it depends on the license/account type. You’ll need add team@airtable.com as a Creator in the base, and include the base ID in the email.

I haven’t tried to get it increased at all, so no advice or help there…. but I keep combing automations if possible.  For example, if I have three ‘when a record enters a view’ automations in the same table, then I’ll combine them into one view with filter groups so records enter for different reasons, and then what happens to the record depends on the reason.  (hopefully that makes sense!).

Following to see if anyone has been successful in getting the limit bumped up!

We had the same issue. We made a request to our support team and they increased it by another 50. We’re currently Enterprise Scale. Good luck!

Hey @David_Anderson1,

You’ve stumbled upon one of Airtable’s most anoying limitations: automation limits :( (more on these here).

You’ll want to follow @DevonK advice above.

Oh and also! You will probably want to fill out this Product Idea/Feature Request form asking for MORE automations!!!

Yeah, it is unfortunate that Airtable has such a low limit on automations.

One of my clients asked Airtable to increase the number of automations that they have, but Airtable said they were unable to do that — but it sounds like it was because they weren’t on an Enterprise plan!

It sounds like Enterprise users can get up to 100 automations, which is awesome!

Another way of working around the automation limit would be to outsource as many automations as possible to Make’s advanced automations & integrations.

You can trigger your automations in Make in a number of different ways — none of which would increase the number of automations that you already have in Airtable:

  1. You can setup a button field in Airtable to trigger a custom webhook in Make, which would then trigger an automation to run there. I show how to use custom webhooks & custom webhook responses on this Airtable podcast episode
  1. In Airtable, if you can merge any of your automations together, you can setup conditional actions to trigger Make automations based on a script, as I outline in this thread: How to instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable

  2. You can setup your automations to run on a schedule in Make.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread.

I also give live demonstrations of how to use Make in many of my Airtable podcast appearances. For example, in this video, I show how to work with Airtable arrays in Make.

Hope this helps!

Ha yeah, and to anyone who’s considering doing this, please know before doing it that automations working on synced tables have a bunch of limitations on them, the biggest one being that you can’t add actions after an update to a synced field:

And so when you’re planning out what automations to move over, only pick out the super simple ones or notification / email type ones

Yes, I was there yesterday and heard! We hit the limit on a few Bases and I contacted Enterprise Support and managed to get it increased on a couple of Bases, but we’re on an Enterprise Plan so I guess that is the difference.

Some good advice in previous responses here - we certainly went through and rebuilt some automations as often you can have one trigger but various different actions (that may or may not be similar). I’m conscious of the limits when I build automations, whereas I wasn’t when I first started using Airtable (but was also unaware of the limits)!
