Did you know that you can customize your Airtable Community experience by subscribing to the content you’re most excited about and following members that inspire you? Don’t worry, here’s how to start building your directory of go-to resources.
How to Subscribe to Content
By subscribing to content you will have the most up to date information on the topics and content that matter most to you. You can subscribe to a board (ex. Automations under Ask the Community or Announcements under Welcome) or to specific posts. When you subscribe to a post or board, you will be notified when someone publishes a new topic or reply.
Subscribing to a Board versus a Post
To subscribe to a Board you will see a Subscribe button on the right side of the page. Click on Subscribe and you are done!

To subscribe to a specific Post, you will click into the post and then click the Subscribe text at the bottom of the original post. You will have successfully subscribed when the text turns blue and the star turns from an outline to a filled in shape.

Viewing and managing your subscriptions

- Click on your avatar at the top right hand corner. A drop down will appear and you will select Subscriptions.
- Click into any subscriptions you’d like to remove and then click the
Subscribe text at the bottom of the original post.
- If you’d like to remove a subscription to a board, you will have to click into the respective board and then click the Unsubscribe button on the right side of the page.
Following other Members
When you Follow another member, you can follow along as they contribute to the community. Under their user profile, you can see member Activity, which shows you topics they’ve started, replies they’ve written, and solutions they’ve authored.
Pro tip: Follow top contributors from the Community Leaderboard to learn from the best of the best!
How to Follow a Member
- Go to the member’s user profile page and you will see a Follow member button under their user rank. Click the button to start following them.

How to Unfollow a Member

- If you’d like to unfollow anyone, click your avatar at the top right and then click My profile from the dropdown.
- Click Following in the top menu or scroll to the Following tab located under your About section.
- Click into any member profile that you are currently following and then click the Following button so it reverts back to “Follow member”
Bonus: Private Messages
Now that you know how to Follow other members, there are two ways you can communicate with other Airtable builders: publicly in posts or with private messages.
As always, please remember to adhere to the Airtable Community’s Code of Conduct and Guidelines when communicating with one another!
All you need to do to start a message is:
- Navigate to the person’s user profile, and click the Send message button under their user rank.
- You’ll be taken to a window where you can write your message.
NOTE: You will not be able to edit your messages after sending, but you can delete your messages after sending.
If you’d like to see all of your Private Messages, click your avatar at the top right and click Private messages from the dropdown. You can also see the total number of message you’ve received and how many have not been read yet in this dropdown menu.

The default setting for private messages is Receive messages from everyone. If you’d like to change this:
- Click your avatar at the top right and then click My profile from the dropdown.
- Click the Edit profile button under your rank and then select the General tab.
- You can toggle the private messages option from Everyone to People you follow.
Now that you know how to subscribe to content and follow other members, go forth and curate your community experience to your liking!
