Hi chat,
My coworkers are running into issues with the filters for their interface. They are finding that they're interface filters are resetting frequently throughout the day. Filtering is critical for our workflow and often when they're viewing their pages, it will remove their last filter. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Specific issues:

  • Filters clear without user action.
  • In other cases, filters revert to an old or unexpected state. For example: Our team commonly filters on the Assignee field. Most of the day, users apply Assignee = Themselves (10+ times per day). Occasionally, they apply Assignee = A Coworker (1–2 times per day). However, the Interface will often revert to the less frequently used filter (Assignee = Coworker) as the default, even when that filter has not been recently applied.

What's been confirmed/tested:

  • The issue affects multiple users across the same Interface.
  • Users remain on a single Interface page and are not navigating between other pages within the Interface.
  • Users are not refreshing their browser, closing or reopening the tab, or working from outdated tabs.
  • No edits or configuration changes are being made to the Interface while this occurs.
  • All affected users have either Editor or Creator permissions.
  • The behavior is consistent across different layout types (List View and Kanban View).
  • There is no identifiable pattern to when the filters reset.
  • This issue has been happening for several months, but has recently become more frequent and inconsistent in how it resets.
  • Cookies and cache has been cleared

Hey @atinstrument,

Are the filters they’d like to find each time they access the page always the same? Meaning “static” default filters? Or would they like to see specifically what they had previously filtered for last time they used the page?

@Mike_AutomaticN Thanks for the response. Yes, they’d like it to be defaulted to one specific filter instead of what they last filtered on. However, it would be okay if it filtered to what they last filtered on but it’s not consistent. It keeps removing their last filter OR filtering to something they haven’t filtered on in a while.

Hm, as a datapoint, I just tried creating a new List Interface and had two accounts on it, updated the filters multiple times on both accounts while refreshing on each side, closing and reopening tabs and the filters stayed the same

May want to open a support ticket directly to get a more concrete answer?

In the meantime, as a workaround I think I’d just try throwing up some new Interface pages for the most common usecases, e.g. for the one you mentioned about filtering to look for Assignee = Themselves, I’d put up a new Interface called ‘My Tasks’ or something and filter that Interface by the currently logged in user

If you don’t want to create a whole new page you could also try using a Filter element and make it always filter by the current user by default?

Hey @atinstrument, thanks for your response! Exactly, as mentioned by Adam above, given that you are looking to get it pre-filtered by default you will want to set Assignee by default to current user.

I’m using Adam’s screenshot above with specific references below (screenshot 2). Also, do note that this is a a dropdown filter (see how to set that up on screenshot 1 below).

Feel free to grab a slot using this link if you need any help setting this up! We can probably get it solved on the spot in 5 min.
