Creating ~BIG~ Record View from Blank Canvas

Hi Airtable Friends,

I need help. Since I couldn’t squeeze all the Product fields I needed to see at-a-glance into the Record View template, I laid them out onto a Blank Canvas. But when I add the List element, it doesn’t display a list of products as would have been the case with the Record View template. Instead, it only allows me to choose from one of the Link to Record fields. If I change the source to “Products”, I see the list of products—but it’s not at all connected to the record view fields. Really hoping some of you  geniuses out there have ideas! Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately this is one of the restrive parts of Airtable, there is not an elegant way to do what you want.  I would either use the Dashboards or List view as the landing page, Record Details is special in that the filtering element is that side bar, so the picker in a nice large view basically.

Then the side half-page opened from the landing page you choose will be the part on the right in the Record Details.  They can still click on the records in the list view with the side page open and it will show that record in the side page or use the little up/down carrots at the top of the side page to move up/down the list as well.

All the fields need to be tied to the picker field to display the data filtered by what is selected in the picket.  Click on each element that is from the table linked to that picker amd ensure its Source is that picker.

Let me know if that solves it or not, can keep looking at other issues if it is not that.

Thanks for the quick response. Still struggling, though…

That is because that is the only Location that is linked to the Product selected in the list.  If you added another Location to that Location field (it is NOT a record picker, that is the linkedRecord field from that Product’s record) it would show in the list element which is just a copy of that Location field, in List element instead of field element.

You would need to add a filter element with Location table as it’s source and a new List element linked to that filter element to get all the Locations listed on that page, but they will not be filtered by the Project selected in that Products picker.

I think maybe I haven’t explained what I’m trying to do clearly. I want the functionality in this attached image, only I want the list on the bottom instead of the side so that tiny fields like “Price” and “Year” aren’t taking up so much real estate on my screen.
