Dashboard with data from different bases

I want to create a dashboard that will combine data from tables that are in two different bases. I know that an interface can only pull from one base, so is there a way for me to create a synced view that will pull data from both bases into one table and then i will create a dashboard that will combine them? what is the best way to do this?

Hey @Limi!

Dashboard is actually one of the few exceptions to “an interface can only pull from one base”!

How dashboard pages are setup is they can have multiple Groups, where each group can have its own Source table -as shown on screenshot below. However, you cannot have data from multiple tables under one unique group.

Hope this helps!!

Yes, that is the solution. You would sync your data from different “sources” into a unified “destination base”, and then you can create all of your interfaces from that one unified base.

Depending on your needs, you can sync each source into its own table in your destination base, or you can sync all of your sources into the same destination base.

You can learn more about Airtable Syncing in this Airtable Support Article:

So if i understand correctly, first i sync table 1 into the base where table 2 is, like @ScottWorld suggested, then i can create a dashboard using what @Mike_AutomaticN  suggested, correct?

But is there a way, once i sync table 2 into this base, to somehow combine the data from table 1 and table 2 together so i can show it all into one graph?

Basically, the two bases were set up a long time ago and really should have been one, but are used so extensively that i cant throw it away and restart. Both have data that is similar and i want in one dashboard: table 1 has programs that we offer, and table 2 has a different type of program that we offer. Both also have a single select field that has the exact same options so i want to be able to take the data from both and show a single pie chart that uses that single select field.

Hi @Limi ,

Yes, what you’re looking to do is called multi-source syncing.

You can take 2 different sources and sync them into one unified table in the destination base.

You can read more about multi-source syncing in Airtable’s support article here.

If you’re on a Business / Enterprise plan and okay with creating a new base for this, then multi source syncing is your best bet: https://support.airtable.com/docs/multi-source-syncing

If not, you could try syncing the data from the second base into the base you want the dashboard to be in, then:

  1. Create an automation that’ll trigger whenever a new record gets created in the synced table
  2. Have that automation create a new record in the primary data table that the dashboard is based off of
  3. In the primary data table, create lookup fields to pull the data from the synced table over
  4. In the primary data table, create formula fields that’ll consolidate the data between the lookup fields and the primary data table’s fields, and point your dashboard at this formula field

Might not work if you’ve got a ton of data movement, and in that situation you could try creating an automation that runs once a day or something to move the data over instead

Actually, all of Airtable’s documentation — including their pricing page — is incorrect about this.

You can get multi-source syncing on the Teams Plan (in addition to the Business Plan and the Enterprise Plan).

Even on the Teams Plan, you can have multiple different source views all feeding into one unified destination table.

@ScottWorld can you clarify how to do this on the Teams plan? After trying to do this for 30 minutes and i gave up and realized it’s only open to Business/Enterprise.

On your “destination sync table”, click on the little down arrow and choose “Add Records From… Airtable Base”.

See screenshot below.

Wow, that’s very strange!

Maybe there really IS the restriction in place that only Business Plans and Enterprise Plans can add multiple sources to a destination table?

But what’s strange about this is that I’m on a Teams Plan, and I can add multiple sources!

See attached screenshot below of my workspace. Very weird.
