Question

Staff denied access to interface.

Hi everyone,  I have created a domain specific link to an interface using a shared link. Staff can register with Airtable OK but the link wont work saying they are not authorised to access this page. The same happens when I do it by invitation. Is there something I’m missing? Any suggestions, even the most obvious, would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like the issue might be related to access permissions for the shared link. First, check if the link settings allow access to "Anyone with the link" or if it is restricted to specific users. Also, ensure that the invited users have the correct role, such as Editor or Creator, to view the interface. If the interface pulls data from a base, the users must have the necessary permissions for that base as well. Additionally, some interfaces require users to be signed in with an Airtable account that matches the email used for the invitation. If your Airtable settings have domain restrictions, make sure the invited users’ emails fall within the allowed domain. If the issue persists, try regenerating the link or contacting Airtable support for further assistance.

Hi Saravanan, that is very helpful. I noticed that in the interface permission navigator menu that there are two shared links one for interface only and a second one for interface and base. But I presumed that the latter was giving people access to both the interface and the raw data held in the base so I have been giving them access to the interface only. Is that the issue do you think-because the interface does pull up data from the base?

Secondly, can you elaborate on what you mean by ensuring that invited users have the correct role? I have set the link to ‘reader only’ access so I presumed that was what all I needed to do. If I give them editor or creator access (and that something I don’t particularly want them to do) they will start changing the interface.

The interface is just a dashboard of survey results and all I want to do is give them access to read them.  I am using a domain specific shared link and that is corresponding to the email they have registered with Airtable so that should not be the problem.

Thank you so much for responding and taking the time to answer such a simple problem.

*Sorry I meant direct access to raw data on the base itself.
