I’m currently editing a list interface, and under “appearance” there is the normal record coloring, and then there is something called “field text color:” Does anyone know what this is and how to use it?

I’ve attached a photo of what I’m talking about

They recently rolled out some conditional formatting to number fields to allow for field-specific colors depending on the value.

More info here!

(Though I will note I can’t seem to get it to recognize number fields when editing Grid views in Interface Designer...)

Try a ‘Duration’ field?  ‘Number’ and ‘Currency’ fields didn’t show up as selectable for me; probably a bug?

At least number field is working perfectly for me!

Would appear that it’s working in some of my bases properly but not others? Might just be a rollout quirk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Solution: The "Field Text Color" option in the List Interface allows you to dynamically change the text color of a specific field based on conditions you set. This works similarly to record coloring but applies only to text within a chosen field.

How to Use It:

  1. Select a Field: Choose which field's text color you want to modify.

  2. Set Conditions: Define rules (e.g., if "Status" = "Urgent," make text red).

  3. Choose Colors: Assign different colors based on your conditions.

This helps improve readability and highlight key data. If you need help setting it up, feel free to reach out!

This doesn’t work for me - there are no options when I click Add field. It just says “no results”.

Hi all,

Great conversation so far!

I wish there were more flexibility with conditions and condition groups for coloring. For example, I have a budget with one currency column where income is positive and expenses are negative, rather than separate fields for inflow and outflow.

When setting up budgets, currency values can be positive or negative depending on whether it’s an income or expense budget.

It would be ideal if conditional coloring could use condition groups, for instance:

  • If the budget’s single select field = Income and the number is positive → color green

  • If the budget’s single select field = Expense and the number is positive → color red

See the screenshot for a visual example.

(In the Variance column, ideally positives in the “Income” section turn green and negatives turn red. Whereas in the “Project Expenses” section, positives turn red and negatives turn green.)
