In Interface, user can only choose a value that already exists in a single select field.

In some use-cases, I should be able to add a new value (as it exists when creating from the "Data" interface)

It would be nice to have this option enable or not in the field parameters, when configuring the form in Interface.

Good idea! As a workaround, you could use single-select linked records instead of the single-select field.

I agree ... this is an absolute requirement.

I don't quite understand the work around yet but I will play around a bit more.

I still can't figure out the work around ... does someone have a link or post on how to make this work?
Very much appreciate the helpful tips around here! Thank-you all!

Looking for an answer for this, any leads?

Adding a comment because I want this feature SO badly!!!

I would also add, adding the capabilities in single select field to add values even if you're not "creator". It provides way to much rights for such a little capability.

You can do it, look under at permissions' last row

Hello Gilles,

Could you please a bit more precise, where is this "permission" setting ? any screenshot would be great.

I've looked at the interface field settings, no such category.

If this is right, this would be a great news. Thanks for sharing.

Was not logged in so no way to upload smtgh.

Be sure to make the interface field Editable to have the option appears at the very bottom

Not sure if it is on my side but i cannot see any images uploaded in any posts here. Hope you can. Once more, set the field to editable to have the option displayed.

Hello Gilles,

OK i see your point / you can add new options if you are opening an existing record from interfaces by setting the field "editable" and select "Allow users to add new options".

But the whole discussion, maybe this was not clear, is about interface with forms to create new record - in this cas there is no setting to allow user to add new options in single or multiselect list of options, which forces the admin to suggest in advance all possible cases, and that is really not possible in some common questions/cases.

okay, you mentioned form only once in the thread and not in the the big title that brought me there !

IMHO you can workaround this quite easily with an automation that would add some content of a 'free' text field to the select field when the record is created.

Has anyone figured out a workaround for this using linked records instead of single select fields? This is a key missing feature. Especially since you can add items in to a field in list view. Please help Airtable team!

I'm also very much in need of this feature! Commenting here to hopefully get updated if this feature is added! Thanks!

+1 on this. This single feature is probably going to mean we're going to have to bin airtable and look for another solution. In table view there's a nice little "+" button so the user can select an existing value or add a new value. That little "+" on Interface forms would make a world of difference 😞

I NEED IT AS WELL!

In my Interface Form I was able to do this using an automation for a workaround. I created a single line text field named "Add New Company" and set up an automation to update the Company field when "Add New Company" is not empty. I then added both fields to my form.
