I’m looking for a simple and low-cost solution for collecting e-signatures in forms. I need to create permission forms for education programs and collect e-signatures, then import the data directly to Airtable. I don’t need to do this often enough for a montly/annual contract to make financial sense. esignatures.com is the best-priced platform that I’ve found, but it’s not clear if their data can be integrated with Airtable. I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this or found other low-cost but good solutions that don’t require third-party software.

You would be required to use 3rd-party software for this.

One of the easiest (and cheapest) ways of doing this is to use Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable.

I show how to do this step-by-step on this Airtable podcast episode:

Fillout also offers hundreds of features that Airtable’s native forms don’t offer, including the ability to update Airtable records using a form, display Airtable lookup fields on forms, create multi-page forms with conditional paths, create new linked records on a form, and much more.

Here’s another podcast episode where I show off a few more of the advanced features of Fillout:

Hope this helps!

Oh, and yes, you can also use eSignatures for this as well.

I really like eSignatures, and I have setup many of my clients with it!

You can automate the communication between eSignatures and Airtable by using Make’s eSignatures integrations along with Make’s Airtable integrations.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread. For example, here is one of the ways that you could instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable.

This is really helpful, Scott. Thank you!

You’re welcome! Glad I could help! :)

Hello @Alison Hynd,

As mentioned, Airtable doesn't have a built-in feature to collect signatures.

However, you can design a Plumsail Form with a Signature control, which is available on a free plan. The signature will be saved as an attachment to the Airtable record.

If you need an electronic signature—for example, to create a document from an Airtable record and send it for signing via an e-signature solution like DocuSign or Adobe Sign—you can try Plumsail Documents. The signed file will then be attached to the Airtable record.

The approach you choose depends on the outcome you need. In the first case, you will get a PNG file attached to an Airtable record; in the second, you will get a signed file.

Hey @Alison Hynd,

I would highly highly highly suggest you follow Scott’s advise on using Fillout. They are great.
You might want to double check their eSignature from a legal standpoint given your country’s requirements. But other than that,  they should be the go-to solution.
