Question

Automations using Slack - Issue with formula values

Forum|alt.badge.img+9

Hi,

I am having an issue using automations and having a message sent in Slack as the final step. I have a formula that looks to an estimate and creates a budget off of that number. I then want to take the data from that field and enter it into a slack message. The problem I am having is the number I am using from the field ( as an example) is 75.6. It is being output from the Slack automtion as 75.61953142857142. No matter how it gets formatted in the formula cell (i.e. with no decimal points, ROUND formulas, etc. the long number always gets output from the Slack message. Is this an inherent flaw in the automations or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hey @Wayne_Merlino

On my phone rn. So I will play around with it later. Are you sure that having a different formula field an applying the ROUND() formula, to then reference this new field in the automation will not do the trick?

This has been addressed in multiple posts (example).

If that does not work, you might want to try nesting the Round() formula within a concatenate() formula as to convert the value to string?

Please let me know if anything of the above helps!

Thanks for replying. I tried the ROUND in both the primary field and made a new field and did the same (i.e. ROUND of the orignal fomula) and when I use the original fomula column it does the same thing with all the decimal point number and for whatever reason the new column value wont even show up in the slack automation! Same thing when I used CONCANTATE in the new column.

Hey - no idea why but it just started working with the ROUND on the orignal formula! Totally weird as I changed nothing and after a bunch of tests it started to work!
