Hello Airtable community,

3 years ago we published the first version of Pro Backup for Airtable (see original post). Since a lot has changed since our launch I thought I'd give on update and tell what has been improved in the last year.

What has been improved since the launch?

  • Our integration is now available as an official integration on the Airtable app marketplace
  • The User interface has been redesigned and rebuilt from scratch making the experience more intuitive & faster.
  • You can now manage the backups of multiple SaaS apps within one Pro Backup account.
  • The Backups page now allows to easily compare versions for reach record / data type: For example you can easily compare the versions of each of your tables, comments & field configurations.
  • Improved restore capabilities: It is now possible to restore entire tables but also to perform more granular restore requests such as restoring a specific field or comment back to the existing table.
  • Improved click-through navigation: You can easily look a certain table and view its related items, comments or fields
  • Backup & restore reports: Get a better overview of the backup activities and track the status of your restore requests.
  • Smart alerts: Get notified when we see unexpected behaviour in your data backups (e.g. the number of tables has significantly decreased)
  • Google Single-Sign on is now available
  • Virus scanner: You can now apply additional security checks on your files
  • Audit reports: Get access to the activity logs of your account

With these updates we firmly believe that Pro Backup for Airtable is the best and most complete backup/restore solution for Airtable. Some tutorial videos to showcase Pro Backup 2.0:

If you have any questions about this integrations, please ask!

Cheers, Will

Hello everyone, proud to announce that we’ve launched ProBackup 3.0 in the meantime. Here’s what new in ProBackup 3.0

  • Completely new UI, re-designed and rebuilt from scratch, making it easier and faster to navigate your data backups
  • Global search feature: Search through all your data with just a few clicks
  • Proactive alerts: Get notified when we notice suspicious activity in your data backups (e.g. tables have been removed or number of records has decreased significantly)
  • Updated pricing: We’ve also reviewed and updated our price plans - only one license needed to back up all your SaaS apps.

Very soon you'll be able to choose where your data is stored. We're launching with US-based storage as our first additional option, will roll out more locations soon after that.

Hey @Willem_Dewulf,

Thanks for sharing. I read multiple posts in the past asking about backup solutions, and did not know about you guys.

Quick Qs. How are your snapshots different from AT native snapshots? Upon restoring from a snapshot, does that create a new base, or does that implement changes on the existing base? Thinking about how this would affect third party app integrations (e.g. make or n8n workflows connected to a very specific app id).

Hi @Mike_AutomaticN

Great questions.

The in-app snapshots are definitely useful and powerful. If things go wrong, I’d recommend restoring from the snapshots if possible.

We provide value by offering a 3rd party, independent backup solution in addition to this. Every day we perform an incremental backup and create a version of all data types (not just records, but also files, comments and field configuration). This way you have detailed granular timebox of your Airtable account.

When you restore data, we never overwrite existing data, instead we always create a new record:

  • When you restore a single record, a new record will be added to the table
  • When you restore a single table, a new table will be added to the base (and we append the name with “restore from xxx”). All files, comments, links are restored as well.

This means that you indeed need to update the linked automations as the table ID will be different. That said, we noticed that most users find it useful to be able to look up previous data and make the needed changes directly in Airtable.
