Reordering records - used the instructions but the records aren't moving

In my view, I select the record(s), then select to the left of the record where the hand appears, I get the simulation that they are being dragged where I want them, but they just go back to where they were… what am I missing?

Sounds like you probably have the “Keep sorted” option checked in the Sort menu at the top of your table. If that is checked, try unchecking it and see if that does the trick.
