Script or automation to copy data

I am looking to run an automation or a script. I would prefer to use a button so a script would be better.

Here is the scenario:

1. I have a table with student information
2. I have a table where I take daily attendance
3. I would like to on a daily basis, preferably at the press of a button, copy my list of students from the name field in the students’ table to the name field in the attendance table.

Notes:
in the attendance table, where I want to paste the name is a linked field to the student table
In the students table I want to copy the primary field
