How to autofill a record on linked tables?

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Hi,

In my Airtable, I have a simple Work Order app, connected to Softr.

My tables are: Owners, Units, Work Orders. All 3 tables are linked.

I would like to automate (autofill?)  “Owner’s Name Surname” in Work Orders  table

When a user chooses an Unit (like in WO 6),  Owner’s Name Surname  should be automatically filled (in WO 6 -  “John Doe”).

(I can rearrange  Owners  table, and make   Owner’s email   as primary field, if that will help)

I have tried different Automations, but I couldn’t make it.

Thank you very much.

No worries at all!

The lookup field in Airtable doesn’t work well for filtering in Softr. One quick fix is to convert your Lookup field into a Rollup field using “arrayjion”. This turns it into plain text, which Softr can read better.

If that doesn’t solve everything, I can help set up an automation to make it work perfectly. Let me know!

Hi Vedran

You can do this using a Lookup field in the Work Orders table.

  1. In Work Orders, create a Lookup field.
  2. Select the Units link.
  3. Choose to pull the Owner’s Name Surname from the Owners table.

This will auto-fill the owner’s name when a unit is selected.

If you need full automation (without lookup fields), let me know, and I’ll guide you!

@Marvel_digitals

I am really sorry for bothering you…

I my example, my Airtable base is connected to Softr, and with  Lookup field,

I cannot filter results in Softr app,

so…

I would really need help with an automation.

(I have tried different types of automation, but non of them worked)

thank you...
