+1 on notifications. It will make Airtable the most customizable task management tool of all.

guys https://ifttt.com/airtable … going to check that out, it can send mails based on new records in specific views, like filtered by “one week from now option” or “today” to set reminders that come by email. Also you could have a checkmark “Remind” and it would be filtered in a view, so whenever you check it it sends a mail. Gonna try it.

Please integrate a reminders feature! It’s an imperative part of project management

Agreed :slightly_smiling_face: Would love to receive a notification from Airtable anytime I am linked to a card with an upcoming date.

+1 a native reminder feature. integrations are a workaround for now, though.

+1 no-ti-ca-tion functionality for calendar, both in formula as well as in calendar view! Please!

Yes please! Zapier provides workarounds, but it’s far from perfect.

Not even a reminder, just a simple notification tool that can notify anyone based on any circumstance… basically a fancy IF() function.

@Katherine_Duh @Airtable_Support First off, I think your product is fantastic. I’m in charge of coordinating projects for my engineering team, and your product is fantastic for such coordination, EXCEPT for the lack of a native notifcation feature. Airtable needs a native notification feature with the date field. It would be a great benefit to my team’s work flow and productivity if there was a convenient and efficient way for us to be reminded of upcoming due dates, check-in dates, milestone dates, deadlines, etc. Optimally, the notfication feature would simply be a part of the drop-down options menu for the date field, and would allow for multiple notifications to be sent to at various times, via various services, i.e. SMS, email, Slack, etc. I think, and so do many others based on just this thread, that adding a native notification feature would be a great addition to your already wonderful product. If you are developing this feature at the moment, please let us know.

you can have reminders if you suscribe to the ical and add the start and end date on every task, you don’t have to go from airtable

we ask for a native option :slightly_smiling_face:

Can you please elaborate on how to do this?

I would love the Collaborator to be able to get a notification on the given deadline straight to their inbox. It would make all the difference

This has been requested for more than three years now. How is this not being prioritized in the roadmap? Multiple users and prospective users are saying this is a non-starter for their use-case. The people have spoken… The zapier solutions and other workarounds just don’t cut it.

@Katherine_Duh I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Airtable. Seriously, I am willing to try to do just about anything I can to keep every single thing I do, use, or have to worry about in Airtable. I am currently trying to advocate for my team at work to select Airtable as our core project management tracking tool. There are so many amazing conveniences that are baked into Airtable that would make it a wonderful tool to use, but not having an alerts, reminders & notifications option built in is a deathblow. I cannot advocate for this tool knowing that, unless someone is tech and integration tool savvy, it cannot meet one of the very most basic and core functions of a project/task management tool.

I personally have been using Zapier integrations, but I’ve finally just had to just stop using it. There are two major issues that make Zapier unusable for me. The first is that there is no “trigger” for when updates are made to a field in Airtable. For example, if I change the due date of a project in Airtable, there is no Zapier trigger to find and update the google calendar date.

In a similar vein to my first issue, the second problem I have is that if I delete something because it no longer applies, my calendar event is not removed. There isn’t a way to tell Google Calendar to delete something that I remove from Airtable. I think this could possibly be resolved by creating an additional Zap, but what it all really comes down to is how difficult this is to do.

The inability to feel confident that my Airtable and Google Calendar are reliably sync’d does more harm than good for me. I’m going to constantly run into the worry that my calendar isn’t accurate, that I’ve missed an important deliverable, or that I killed myself to meet an inaccurate due date. It’s easier for me to just kill the calendar integration and accept that I’m just going to have to constantly check Airtable to make sure I don’t miss something.

Especially considering you already offer the incredibly helpful calendar view tool, I feel like this should be such a doable, low hanging fruit, bang for your buck, slam dunk, easy win option you could add to this platform. I’ll keep my fingers crossed this comes soon.

@Mikaela_Smith
You mentioned that with Zapier you’re not able to have this sync trigger on updated records.
As a suggestion to solve this, you can use zzBots to create a 2 way sync between Airtable and Google Calendar. This sync will trigger on new or updated Airtable records, as well on new or updated Google Calendar events.

You can create this sync at zzbots.com
Below is a step by step walkthrough video of how to create this sync in zzBots:

I want to be as helpful as I can. Let me know if there is anything I can do to answer any questions about this, or help set it up.

I previously commented with a video showing how to set up a 2-Way Sync between Airtable and Google Calendar.

This full 2-Way Sync can now be installed in the bot store in zzBots.

You can install it here: https://www.zzbots.com/store/etsxGGrfvx5BtXmnt

If you would like to sync your Airtable data with your external calendar and show more than the primary key field, we’ve built this extension that allows you to select any other field. It also supports other event field types like location, notes, URL, etc.
