Attachment option in comments

In the comments in any airtable record it would be good to have attachment option so users can post pics, videos, files, leave an audio message, video message, etc.

What is the proposed idea/solution? As a user I want to be able to quickly share images, often screenshots, in the comments on a specific record. How does is solve the user problems? The user today needs to visit an external website to see the image I provide in an image link. Who is the target audience? Everyone who is collaborating in airtable

When opening an attached document in Airtable it blocks the view of the record. It would be handy when a document opened in a new window, to be able to read an opened document and the connected record at the same time (for example to make notes/description from the document into the record).

A client of mine just discovered a small issue with Airtable when it comes to the “Send Record” command. (“Send Record” is the command you can choose when right-clicking on a record.) If you have an attachment field as part of your record, Airtable will place a small thumbnail of your attachment in the outgoing email. This is fantastic! 🙂 However, if your attachment field is actually a LOOKUP FIELD that displays an attachment, then the thumbnail is no longer placed in the outgoing email. Airtable just places a link to the attachment instead. What’s interesting is that all other types of lookup fields (text, dates, numbers, etc.) seem to get placed in the outgoing email just fine — it seems like only attachments cause this issue.

There really ought to be a simple way to move an attachment from one field to another. Like the Move To button on Google Docs.

It would be awesome to be able to limit uploads for an attachment field to specific file type. For example, to ensure that only PDFs are uploaded to a certain field

The button is way to small in the mobile app, impossible to click on first try, sometimes need to click 10 times to hit it. It’s not a problem with the application or iOS or Android but the close button is too small. The issue is on iOS (iPad mini smaller screen than iPad) and maybe also Android, don’t know.) See picture.

Hi guys, I use “Attachment” fields to upload images to my records. On my laptop I can select multiple images from my devices folders and and upload them all at once. Unfortunately it seems when uploading from my mobile, I have to select images one by one (Click “select files to upload”, select folder, select image, REPEAT for each image). Does anyone else experience the same when uploading from mobile phones?

We work a lot with MP3 files in our Airtable bases. When playing back an MP3 file in an expanded record view window, all we currently see is a gray square with a play icon in the middle. It would be fantastic to also see a basic representation of the file’s waveform (like in Dropbox). That way we can see what we hear. It would allow us to jump to a section in the file based on its waveform. The waveform would have to be placed exactly between the left and the right time indicators, so that the little black playback dot and the waveform line up correctly. Everyone working with audio files is used to working like this. This feature would make Airtable attractive to a whole new group of professional users. Here’s a mockup of what this expanded waveform view could look like:
