Hi guys, I use “Attachment” fields to upload images to my records. On my laptop I can select multiple images from my devices folders and and upload them all at once. Unfortunately it seems when uploading from my mobile, I have to select images one by one (Click “select files to upload”, select folder, select image, REPEAT for each image). Does anyone else experience the same when uploading from mobile phones?

We work a lot with MP3 files in our Airtable bases. When playing back an MP3 file in an expanded record view window, all we currently see is a gray square with a play icon in the middle. It would be fantastic to also see a basic representation of the file’s waveform (like in Dropbox). That way we can see what we hear. It would allow us to jump to a section in the file based on its waveform. The waveform would have to be placed exactly between the left and the right time indicators, so that the little black playback dot and the waveform line up correctly. Everyone working with audio files is used to working like this. This feature would make Airtable attractive to a whole new group of professional users. Here’s a mockup of what this expanded waveform view could look like:

Any window that opens in Airtable can be closed by pressing ESC (Escape) key on keyboard except for the attachment-detail view (it’s the window showing single attachment e.g. picture detail). That window can’t be closed by ESC.
Please consider making ESC available to close it. It’s super inconvenient to have to click the close icon in the window to close it.

I am a regular use of the AirTable iOS app, but have two requests / issues that I encounter on a daily basis. I usually attach some attachments (images for the most part) to my records and about 50-60% of the time, the attachments fail to upload to the record (ie. due to some issues with AirTable server, mobile network connectivity, etc.–actually unknown as there are no logs, just silently fails from an user perspective). It would be awesome if the iOS app had some local caching / management and syncing functionality built into the attachments feature so my uploads don’t get lost on “failure”. Since there is no notification that the upload has failed and they are just dropped, I don’t usually notice that my attachments are missing until I review the record several days later and then I have to track down and mentally re-associate attachments with the record. To the iOS devs: a simple temporary fix would be to add some type of retry logic in the failure callback of the upload call. Another issue I am having related to images is I will usually attach multiple images to a record. It would be awesome if I could select multiple images in the gallery. Otherwise, I have to upload images one by one, and if the image is “far down” the image gallery, I have to scroll all the way back down and find out which image I need to upload. Anybody else having these issues with attachments and/or have a solution/workaround for the time being?

It seems like attachments that are uploaded are not very secure (because when the document is uploaded to the web, anyone who knows the URL can access and download the document). I understand that there is some security around the idea that it is unlikely someone could guess the correct URL, but it still worries me enough to not want to upload anything sensitive as an attachment. I would like it if the URL does not work unless a user who is authorized to collaborate on a specified Base is logged in on their browser.

Yes, that's the idea. Allow my to buy more storage for my paid Team plan. I'm even willing to pay! But I only value the storage, not everything else that comes with moving from Team -> Business (that move just to get an 80GB storage for $300/yr seems rather...hmm...excessive; I'll try to ignore comparisons that Dropbox offers 3TB for free). I'm a simple user, and quickly hit the AT 1GB limit in just a couple weeks of learning to use the service, and have one Base. The 1GB is a low storage amount, but I somewhat understand it...Free is really a trial plan, no problem. I liked AT and wanted to continue, so had to move up to Team ("For teams building apps to collaborate on shared workflows"). I don't mind paying more just to get storage, but the 'Team' is just me and my cat. Team could be also described as "For individual users that need more storage" and 'Business' described as "For individual users that need a bit more storage." Point is, it really doesn't make much sense to not allow individuals (and actual Teams) to purchase additional storage (which I understand from another thread is provided by Box). One day maybe I'll reach where I require other functionality, but I suspect I'll go through the Team level of storage (20GB, which is easily reached in my work, which is based on the Museum template) before I need more functionality, and then will have to think about another solution. Quite the bummer to not create a Free-Good-Better-Best pricing structure where your limits aren't based so much on feature differences, but capacity. A pricing model like this gets implemented as AT wants to use this lever to get companies to move to the next tier, so it tells us that a lot of users care more limits such as storage versus features. If AT doesn't want to be in the storage-adding business that is OK, but it would seem that then the ability to point to attachments held elsewhere would be a requirement. And I realize from the Community that AT doesn't read these comments or respond, so this post is indeed for cathartic purposes only.

I'd really love to see some better handling of photos that are added to attachment fields, particularly outside of Gallery views. Far too often a photo's dimensions don't allow a good preview either in a grid view or the expanded record detail view, and the only way to see the full image is to open the attachment or to rely on a Gallery view. It would be really great if you could tell it to fit photos, just like in Gallery view, elsewhere; this would give a better experience with uploaded photos inline.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Make the date the attatchment file was uploaded visible.... How does is solve the user problems? When you have more than one attatchment you can easily see which is the most recent one... How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? Everyone using attatchments?

Following the upoming changes on the price plans, and the huge difference betwen Team and Business plans, it will be to consider having and paid add-on just to upgrade the storage space of the Team plan, as this is, at least for me the biggest problem of this change from Pro to Team plan.
