This is related to the attachment field type. Our team can have hundreds of box files and folders, searching in the attachment integration here in airtable would leverage a lot of benefits for a variety of use cases for my team.

Hi, It could be interesting to go further in the picture management. There is so much things to do… Choose which picture/attachement I want to show instead of the first (? why the first ?) If my idea is to show all pictures, I want it to be square or not ! The possibility to create a grid or a mansonry could be usefull. Tks !

It would be awesome to be able to limit uploads for an attachment field to specific file type. For example, to ensure that only PDFs are uploaded to a certain field

I love the ability to import images via a URL. One thing I’ve recently encountered is the inability to import images in the WebP format. Use of this image format is quickly becoming (annoyingly) widespread. This would likely require converting the images to JPG on import for storage, but that would be simple enough to code. (See: developers . google . com/speed/webp/docs/using) Currently, I’m having to use a third-party website to convert WebP images to JPG, and that adds another 5-8 steps in the process to import an image via URL. I would rather not have to leave Airtable to import WebP images as this is a function I use a LOT.

There really ought to be a simple way to move an attachment from one field to another. Like the Move To button on Google Docs.

My primary key differentiator of Airtable versus Google Sheet is the ability to upload attachments on the row. While images work well. Video attachment doesn’t play and requires downloading. It would be great to have this feature to at least have everything in Airtable available in term media viewing.

It seems like attachments that are uploaded are not very secure (because when the document is uploaded to the web, anyone who knows the URL can access and download the document). I understand that there is some security around the idea that it is unlikely someone could guess the correct URL, but it still worries me enough to not want to upload anything sensitive as an attachment. I would like it if the URL does not work unless a user who is authorized to collaborate on a specified Base is logged in on their browser.

Currently, you can preview many file formats in Airtable (PDF, CSV, XLS, DOC, major web-safe image file formats, etc), but text formats (like TXT, RTF, EML, etc) are just displayed as a generic icon. This makes it really difficult to store and share notes in our base.

Far as I can tell, you can only link to specific files in Google Drive with the Attachment field type. While I could choose all the files individually, I would much rather just link to the directory because often times we share that directory with a client who will over time continue to add files to it during the lifetime of the project. So only attaching files would become outdated pretty quickly. Right now I’m just using the URL field type but it’s one more step for me to open drive in another tab and go find the directory and get the share URL. Just slows **bleep** down and isn’t very dynamic. I’ve seen this functionality in Samepage.io so I imagine it’s in the Google Drive API somewhere. Not to mention from within Gmail, you can attach a directory right there also to an email. Thanks

Hi there — it would be great if the following restrictions could be set in form view: Set a limit the number of attachments that can be attached to a field Restrict the types of files that can be attached (e.g. to make sure users only upload PDF or DOC files, not any other types).
