When choosing a linked record in the linked record field, the records in the “list of records to choose from” often appear in an unpredictable order. This can be difficult & frustrating. We really need our list of record choices to be in a predictable sort order, either based on: (a) The record order of the FIRST VIEW of the linked table (when we’ve turned OFF the “limit record selection” view). or (b) The record order of the SELECTED VIEW (when we’ve turned ON the “limit record selection” view). Having our “list of record choices” appearing in an unpredictable order makes it very difficult to work efficiently with Airtable. Now you might be thinking — wait a second, this feature works for me! Well, yes, it SOMETIMES works, but much of the time it DOESN’T work: If your records on the linked view are grouped & sorted, Airtable ignores the grouping but respects the sorting. So the record order doesn’t match your linked view. If your records on the linked view were previously sorted and now you’ve unsorted them, Airtable ignores the current sorting but goes back to the previous sorting. So the record order doesn’t match your linked view. If your records on the linked view have been manually sorted by you dragging-and-dropping, this really trips up Airtable and it now shows you the records in some completely random order — it’s not even the creation order of your records. So the record order doesn’t match your linked view. The ONLY TIME it seems to match identically is if your records on the linked view are NOT grouped but ARE sorted. This really needs to be consistent 100% of the time. The record order should always match the current record order of the view we’re pulling from. This is one of those weird usability issues that exists throughout the product, and it would be great if Airtable spent some more time on cleaning up these little quirks. Thanks! 🙂 ... View more

Links are messy so the ‘Open URL’ function for the new Button Field is great. Unfortunately it only supports one link at a time. So when I have a lookup or rollup pulling links from another table, we’re back to fishing through messy links instead of getting to use a button. We should ideally be given the choice to have a second link field populated when using links to records in same table. For instance I would need a children field to be automatically populated when parents are added (and vice-versa). Would be a great feature to auto populate certain graphical information like logo’s and head shots alla FullContact. Example paste email in email field for a contact and then have it auto populate linkedin URL and photo from Linked in the the same contact. Full contact doesn’t do this for Logo’s only head shots. But I think pulling logo’s from a companies linked in page would also be interesting. ... View more

Whilst working with my local running club, I've discovered that the a grouped Grid View hasn't the ability to show the primary field as an average. My base design has the primary field utilised as the Time Keeper for each runners Finish Time. I noticed that there's no control to toggle the primary fields group count into an average (or anything else) - as per the other column, such as "Net Time Calculated". With my Primary Field being set as a Duration that captures the finish time, it's kind of important/useful to have these other options available. I'm hoping either that this is a bug that can be quickly addressed, or perhaps I'm having a moment (...or my browser is) and the option is there but I'm just not seeing it. 😅 ... View more

Currently, it does not appear I can directly access forms on a mobile device. If I have the share link, I can access the actual form to do data entry. However, if I don’t have the share link handy, there’s no obvious way to access the form or even the share link. So, the simplest solution would appear to be: If selecting a view that’s a form, (while editing isn’t allowed) allow the user to get to the live form (for data entry) or at least provide the share link in the error message.
