Hello,

Quite simple question : today when you mention a user with “@person” in a comment or a note, he/she gets notified by email.

Is there a way to route these notifications in Google Chat, Slack or MS Teams ? I’d like to avoid kludge solution like creating a Zap or Make that watches over the mailbox and transform an email received into a chat message, this should flow directly from airtable to one of those 3 solutions, like a setting in the user specific parameters.

Hi @Support_IT,

As far as I know, it isn’t possible to use the comments section to do what you want to do.

However, you could create your own “custom commenting system” within Airtable, where you can trigger a Slack notification or a Google Chat notification whenever you choose a user from a dropdown menu (i.e. single-select field or multiselect field).

You can do Slack notifications natively within Airtable, but for Google Chat notifications, you would need to use Make’s advanced integrations & automations.

If you’ve never used Make before, I’ve assembled a bunch of Make training resources in this thread. For example, here is one of the ways that you could instantly trigger a Make automation from Airtable

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire the best Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld

Hey @Support_IT!

Actually, I am pretty sure that you should be able to achieve this using 3rd party automation tools. In fact we are working on something similar for a client.

Given that you can access comments via API, you could be checking all new comments and checking who was tagged on each. As this needs to run very often to check for new comments, I would suggest using n8n.io to such effect (very powerful, and very cheap if self hosted).

Would love to show you around
